Nouveau master sur biotechnologie de santé

Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble, in partnership with four other European universities (Barcelona, Turin, Maastricht and Cluj-Napoca) and
with the support of Europe (Erasmus Mundus Action 1) launch in September 2011 a new curriculum for master and doctoral degrees in the field
of health biotechnology entitled BioHealth Computing.
Coordinated by the Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble, the Erasmus Mundus BioHealth Computing aims to train high-level executives in the
industries of life and health, to be able to work in multidisciplinary environments involving biotechnology, clinical research, environment health, biomathematics
modeling. This international training of excellence was designed to address the growing gap between general basic research and clinical
research, constituting a major barrier to innovation and development of new drugs.The Erasmus Mundus Master BioHealth Computing brings
together 23 students from ten different countries selected among 350 candidates from five continents.
Students admitted will follow an international course in two host universities, including an internship in research and innovation industrial centers
and university laboratories. Upon leaving, the students will be eligible for jobs in charge of R & D projects both within companies using biotechnology
and companies developing innovative tools and methodologies in the field of clinical and life sciences. The first class of Master will be hosted
as part of the Summer School organized by the University Joseph Fourier, 28 August to 3rd September 2011.The promotion will then be distributed
among the five partner universities from September 2011 to September 2012.
BioHealth Computing network brings together 150 principal investigators from 10 universities, including three in Asia (Seoul, Osaka and Shanghai),
companies from the health sector (Sanofi Pasteur, bioMérieux, Merial, NovImmune ...) and university hospitals. The first scientific meeting of the
consortium was held in Archamps Technopole (Haute-Savoie) on 12 and 13 July 2011. It allowed the supervisors to work on the definition of scientific
programs and master's thesis.

Joseph Fourier University partner of three Erasmus Mundus Masters
The UJF is now involved in three Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses: The master Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology opened in
2005, the master-Nanoscience Nanotechnology,which started in 2010 and the master BioHealth Computing,which starts this year.
The Erasmus Mundus Masters: a highly selective label either for candidate universities as well as for international students
Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses are training of excellence, through a network of internationally recognized European universities.They contribute
to the promotion of higher education and European research.The training candidates must be open to the international (courses in English, student
mobility), and rely on a strong partnership with the scientific and socio-economic development. In 2010, the Executive Agency "Education,
Audiovisual and Culture" (EACEA) of the European Union has selected 15 new masters and renewed 14 existing masters, 29 projects from over 200
nominations.
